The Battle of Cold Harbor

The Battle of Cold Harbor took place on May 31 – June 12, 1864, in Hanover County Virginia. Near the town of Mechanicsville. The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought under General George Meade and supervised by General Ulysses S. Grant for the Union, and the Confederacy was lead under General Robert E. Lee.

ImpactThere was over 18,000 casualty's and most of them were apart of the Union as an effort to take the Confederate capital in Richmond, Virginia.

The battle is remembered as General Ulysses S. Grant's last overland campaign and a poorly planned Union attack on the Confederacy. Also there is a National Battle field park dedicated to the battle of Cold Harbor and a Cold Harbor memorial cemetery dedicated to all lost lives during the battle.
